Inspiration images (Sue)

All three photographs i chose the main subject is hands. I picked these because they do not look like normal photos that you will see.

In the first picture it has six hands all doing different symbols with all different meanings. I found this interesting because on a day to day basis use our hands to communicate eg. a wave, counting, thumbs up etc.
To create this i will use one persons hands and take six photo of them doing different symbols. I will then use photoshop to achieve the look as seen in the photo. I will do this by making each hand a different layer including the background, i will then change the size of five of them and place one on top of each finger.

I love this photo. I believe it is very different and unique. I like the simplicity of it as it is just hands and a face put together. All the work to achieve this is done in the editing stage. To recreate this i will ask a classmate if i can take a picture of both their hands together as seen in the picture and a picture of their face. Once i have taken both photos i will begin editing. In order to create the same effect i will need to mask both of them then layer it messing around with the opacities until it is perfect. As the background i will need to take a shot of a black wall and then use a black paint texture like the one below as another background layer.
Photoshop is the software i intend to use to recreate the photograph.

The last photo i want to recreate is simply a man with his hand over his face. I picked this photo because it is creative and unique.
Similarly to the above photos i will use photoshop to achieve this look. Cutting out the middle of the hand to reveal the mouth underneath. I will ask a class mate if i can take a photo of their face and their hand covering it.

Shadows (Sue)

I experimented with hard and soft lighting techniques. Hard lighting is when the light has no filters just a bulb for contrast and soft lighting is when the light has a soft box and a reflector on the shiny side this creates a soft feminine look. The ISO i used when taking these photos was 100 shutter speed, 1/50 aperture and F5.6.
