1.Who regulates TV Advertising in the UK?
The ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) are regulators of television advertising in the UK.
2. Explain the process of how to complain about a TV advert which you thought was offensive in some way.
Taken from www.asa.org.uk/Consumers/How-to-complain.aspx
3. Explain what happens in this video
This advert is to help people become aware of famine and the campaign which is set up to try and fight it. In this advert know celebrities such as Idris Elba, George Clooney, Jessica Alba and a few others appear to repeatedly say the F word as it is censored out when in fact they are saying Famine.
Why was this advert banned?
This advert violates the advertising rules that have been laid out by the 2003 communications act, so was banned in the UK.
Do you think the regulators was right to banned this advert
I think the regulators were right in banning this advert because as it was very offensive. The word famine is censored out so the audience will automatically assume it is a offensive word that the celebrities are meant to be saying.
Summarise your main points
1. Using the censor make the advert come across as offensive and violent
2.A child may watch this and assume using bad language is okay especially if they are aware what a censor usually means and because the people in this advert are celebrities
